“If you don’t have the cash to pay for something , then you don’t need it.”

What this guy said makes good sense and I seem to understand.

"Our modern society is set up to get us into debt. I was raised with the phrase, 'If you don't have the cash to pay for something , then you don't need it.' Of course I started on a path of debt. I got a college loan and two credit cards while in college. More on this later."

How many people heard that when they where growing up.  Especially from grandparents that grew up in the great depression?

Perhaps we need to dig down into our memory banks, remember the words of our grandparents, “Stay out of debt. Store up food for the winter. Fix things don’t threw them away and buy new.”

We have become a, use it till it breaks throw it away and buy another one, society. Use it, loose it, replace it. Consume, consume, consume this is our doom.

Ship Wreck
by: Author Unknown
—————————————————

A ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men
on it were able to swim to a small desert like island. The two
survivors, not knowing what else to do, agreed that they have no
other recourse but to pray to God for help.

However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they decided
to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides
of the island.

The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the
first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the island, and
he was able to eat its fruit. The other man’s parcel of land
remained barren.

After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for
a wife. The next day, there was another ship wreck, and the only
survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the island. On the
other side of the island, there still was nothing.

Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, and more food.
The next day, like magic, all of these things were given to him.
However, the second man still had nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife
could leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked on
his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his
wife and decided to leave the second man on the island. He
considered the other man unworthy to receive God’s blessings,
since none of his prayers had been answered.

As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from
heaven boom-out, “Why are you leaving your companion on the
island?”

“My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for
them,” the first man answered. “His prayers were all unanswered
and so he does not deserve anything.”

“You are mistaken!” the voice rebuked him. “He had only one
prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have
received any of my blessings.”

“Tell me,” the first man asked the voice, “what did he pray for
that I should owe him anything?”

“He prayed that all your prayers would be answered.”

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers
alone, but those of another praying for us. This is too good not
to share.

With obedience and love for others come blessings. My prayer for you today is that all your prayers will be answered. Be blessed.
“What you do for others is more important than what you do for yourself.”

Grand idea to be debt free. Of course lately going further in debt. So I ask myself why. First thought is no clear plan. Also after being so far behind it is difficult to come out. Need to cut more. So far put the verizon cell phone on a 3 month suspension. Which costs $15 per phone. If you are paid up on your bill you can suspend your service for a month for free. We have down graded the satellite to the cheapest package. However I believe that we need to get rid of it all together. This is harder than I thought. Once again great inspirations for me at this time are as follows:

  • http://48days.com/newsletter_archives/archive.php?date=20080325In the 48 days to the work you love book he talks about making a 5 year plan starting with where you want to be in 5 yrs and working backward to where you are now.

I have always had a difficulty with that whole planning idea. Perhaps because I have felt that having a plan will interupt the spontaneity of life or maybe a verse in the bible that said something about not doing it. hhhhmmm I think the bible verse was more like don’t say you will do something without saying if it is God’s will.

I guess also sometimes I have thought that if I make a plan then I won’t be open for God’s plan.

Well I am not so sure this works so well. I see the importance of a plan and be willing to be flexible. Not to be to obsessed about the goal that your not able to stop and smell the dog poop.

Yesterday I attempted to get a loan to pay down other debts and the propane so I could get more propane as the montana winter is still cold and I couldn’t. The loans and credit cards I have are above 75% max and I don’t have a long history. I avoid having loans or credit cards for a long time. Then when I went to get a house loan I had no credit history. So have started trying for the history.

Of course I did quit job last summer and try a few months working on my own. Of course with no real plan and only loan money to live on. That didn’t work.

OK OK OK maybe a plan is a good idea. I seem to have some sort of block about the whole plan thing. Perhaps it is because I have a lot of interests and have not clearly settled on what I want to do. HHHMMM Perhaps I can plan on things I know.

I know I want to be debt free and have plenty of time and money to do the creative things I want to.

I know that I want to be physically fit.

I know that I want to be eating healthy.

Hey that is a start. So the next question, which I think came from the 48days to the work I love book or http://www.geniustypes.com, is what are you doing right now to move towards that.

Ok I will go eat a carrot and stretch and contemplate what exercise I want to do at 22 degrees F.
